This is a little off topic, but I recently discovered Dropbox, a free and flexible file store offering 2Gb of private and public available storage.
Dropbox is unlike file storage offered by microsoft or apple because it’s very simple, like gmail is simple compared to windows live or hotmail or whatever they are calling it today….
Once signed up with dropbox, all one should do is download the client application which is available for win, mac and linux. The client application creates a special “dropbox” folder – at a customisable location if desired.
Now that you have a local dropbox folder, you can begin copying files into the dropbox, up to the free limit of 2Gb. By placing files into your public folder you can easily send email links to your friends and collegues by right clicking on the desired file or folder and selecting “copy public link” from the dropbox menu. You can edit files in your dropbox as if they were locally stored, the dropbox sync procedure is transparent.
Now I finally have a way of sharing my big old panoramas (28Mb!!) between my friends!
So there are no reasons not to try it, it’s big – free – and flexible. Go to Dropbox.

As a (former) Dropbox user I’d like to recommend SugarSync as an alternative way to backup and sync your data in the cloud. Free accounts provide 5GB of disk space and you can choose which folders to sync in your hard drive, not only one single dropbox.
If anyone wants to register for an account, feel free to use my referral link that will add 500 MB further bonus to both mine and your account
